Not so many people know that Lely has been building houses for more than 20 years. Lely was one of the first who started to build houses in a factory as prefab. They were build in 2 days at the site including all plumbing, doors etc. It started in 1961 with the first patent of container houses (picture of the patent attached). The houses evolved in more luxurous bungalows in the late 70's. Some parts of the housing factory, built in the 70's, are nowadays still in use on the Campus. But the best remains can still be seen in the streets. A recently taken picture of a house in Vlaardingen (Henri Dunant street) is attached below. At least houses can still be seen in Maassluis (e.g. at the front of the Campus), Maasland (pr Irenestraat), Vlaardingen, s'Gravenzande, Arcen.
