#TipThursday: Getting More Out of Advanced Filters

Advanced filters in Horizon are powerful tools, but many are still underused. Here are some clever ways to level up your filter game:

Did you know…
• Lely provides 3 default filters: hoof trimming, cows in heat, and repro checklist.
• You can use negative values (e.g., “expected calving in -30 days”) to look ahead in planning.
• Up to 10 filter sets can be added to one group.
• Use AND/OR to fine-tune how multiple properties work together.
• You can automate routing using filters—eligible cows go to selected areas automatically.
• Hit the “…” menu to preview which cows are included in your filter.

Labels & Reminders = Smart Filtering

Labels help you manually group cows—useful for tasks like “dry off” or “fetch cow.”
• One label per cow, but easy to apply and remove in bulk.
Reminders allow you to plan ahead—for example, add a cow to the “vaccination” task 3 weeks from now.
• Default reminders are already linked to tasks, but you can also link them to custom ones via filters.

Try it out! and make your daily routines smoother, smarter, and more automated.

AND if you are already using this, please share your opinion, and how this helped you in your day-to-day!

  • Really helpful breakdown i can't lie. thanks for sharing. I’ve been using Horizon for a while but didn’t realize how much more you can do with advanced filters. Using labels for quick tasks like ‘fetch cow’ is a game changer, especially during busy times. Also didn’t know you could set reminders to line up with future tasks like vaccinations, though I was told about it a while ago too, definitely going to start using that more.
