Here are some tips for Spring Grazing – from Louise in FMS UK 

Spring/Summer is here - and so is grazing season! ️ Louise Whelan, one of our Farm Management Support pros, shares quick tips for getting the most out of grazing with robotic milking.

 1. Walk & Assess
 Check paddocks daily! Start with low-medium covers (500–900kg DM/ha) and save the lush stuff for drier days. Remember: the cow will tell you if you got it right (or wrong ).

 2. Infrastructure is Key
Happy cows = smooth cow flow. Fix up those tracks, check water access, and resurface if needed. Target <10% lameness!

 3. Avoid Poaching
Back-fence grazed areas and use woodchips or stones in gateways to protect the pasture—and reduce mastitis risk.

 4. Run ABC Grazing
Rotate paddocks every 8 hours for fresh bites and better motivation to visit the robot.
