How does your daily routine look like?

A well-structured day can make a big difference in how smoothly your farms operates. Many farmers in Australia using ABC grazing follow an 8-hour paddock rotation and with the right setup, your day can run from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Below is an example of the basic daily routine on a grazing farm. Next to the daily routines, every two weeks it’s important to check your paddocks and see how the grass is growing to plan your next paddock rotation.

Does this look like your day on the farm? Or do you do things a bit differently?

  • The typical day-to-day routine of our dairy cow includes: walking from the paddock to the milking shed first thing in the morning to be milked and to receive some feed such as grain; returning after milking to a new paddock with fresh grass where she will graze and rest during the day; at certain times of the year when the grass is short she would also receive silage, hay or crop, such as turnips or maize; in the afternoon she walks back to the milking shed for her second milking of the day; then returns to another paddock for the night Smiley LIFE
