Keep Open Advice helps with the voluntary selection of cows to keep open. Keep Open Advice proactively considers how each cow is expected to perform in a next lactation based on the cow index and compares this with the other cows. The cows marked with a Keep Open Advice are then selected based on this information.
How to apply Keep Open Advice on the heat and insemination task?
The Keep Open Advice appears for individual cows in the heat and insemination task in the task widget. Opening the advice displays the parameters considered in selecting the cow for Keep Open Advice. If you agree with the advice, you can click on the ‘Agree’ button. The status of the cow will change to ‘Keep open’. By clicking on ‘Disagree’, the advice will be rejected and will not appear until the next breeding opportunity if the cow meets the criteria for Keep Open Advice.
Cow index list
As well as in the heat and insemination task, Keep Open Advice labels can also be found in the cow index list. You can open this list by going to the ‘Reproduction prediction’ dashboard widget and clicking on ‘Go to herd overview’. On this page of the herd overview, go to the ‘Cow index’ tab. This page will show you a list of all your cows. If there is a Keep Open Advice for a cow, it will show in the yellow label below the cow number. Sorting the cow index in ascending order should move the keep open cows to the top of the list.
What parameters are considered in Keep Open Advice?
Keep Open Advice is generated when a cow is amongst the lowest performing 12.5% of the ranking list and she is not pregnant. Cows in the first lactation are excluded from the advice.
