Care for your cyber security, like you care for your cows!

Everybody wants to protect their farm. Am I right? Yes, I know I'm right 100 Here are some 5 rules that could help you protect your farm:

1. Stay alert for phishing emails Keep an eye out for suspicious emails. Avoid clicking on unfamiliar links or opening attachments from unknown senders to avoid malware and phishing attacks.

2. Lock your screen When stepping away from your computer, remember to lock your screen. (WINDOWS SYMBOL + L).

3. Use strong passwords Utilize strong, unique passwords for all your accounts and ideally use a password manager to securely store them and activate multifactor authentication. Additionally, avoid using your business e-mail for personal purposes.

4. Back up your data Regularly back up your critical data to mitigate the impact of data loss due to cyber incidents or hardware failures.

5. Use virus scanners and update your software Protect your devices from malware and viruses by regularly scanning them with antivirus software and by updating your software

  • what does Lely do regarding cyber security?

  • I'm sure a little google search would help but here is what I found on their website:

Lely takes cybersecurity seriously both within the company and for us as farmers. They have a dedicated Cyber Security Center with a team that focuses on protecting systems and data across the board. They also put a lot of effort into awareness and training. Things like using strong passwords, turning on two step verification, and keeping work and private use separate are all part of the standard advice they share. New employees and customers get regular reminders and tips to help build good habits.Lely also gives clear and simple cybersecurity guidelines for us on the farm. They call them Golden Tips and they’re really practical. I found them helpful when setting up our own systems.

They are clearly preparing for bigger challenges too like ransomware threats and upcoming EU regulations. Overall it feels like they’re not just reacting but planning ahead to keep everything secure and reliable.
